Contest Guidelines

We invite Romanian and international artists or artistic teams to submit proposals for large-scale art installations.

 

Showcase your talent by entering an exciting competition. We are awarding more than 20,000 EUR for up to 7 art installations to be displayed throughout the park during AWAKE Festival.

 

 

We can’t think of a better place to create, exhibit and explore art than within a music festival, in the middle of the nature, surrounded by secular trees.

 

We invite you to infuse art and inspiration into the Teleki site, by delightedly opening AWAKE’s Festival door to big outdoor art installations.

We encourage artists to draw inspiration from the breathtaking surroundings of Teleki Castle and park.

  • Prizes

The allocated budget for each winning installation is EUR 3,000 for up to 7 artist/ artistic teams. This amount includes all applicable expenses that the artist may incur creating and showcasing the artwork on site.

  • Winners

The selection criteria taken into consideration by the Jury are: originality and creativity, concept, impact, feasibility.

Any artist or group of artists may submit more than one proposal.

 

We strive to respect the organic and architectural features of the park. Artists should avoid damaging the environment and all materials used must be able to withstand hard weather conditions.

Organizers

Culturaft Association, in partnership with Mureș County Council and the Romanian Order of Architects, Mureș Subsidiary, is delighted to present the first edition of ARTDOOR – big art installations competition

Culturaft is a Romanian nonprofit that aims to become an active force in the cultural sector, supporting activities, ideas, projects in collaboration with the local community, associations, companies and governmental authorities.

Mureș County Council is a governmental institution that has a strong commitment in the development of Mureș county both economically and culturally. The institution is dedicated to providing a high level of support and quality resourcesto the local community.

The Romanian Order of Architects promotes the quality of the architectural and urban design product by representing the profession of architect, pursuing competent and qualified exercise of this profession.

The subscribed projects will be carefully curated by:

Mircea Cantor is a Romanian-born artist who follows in the tradition of French artist Marcel Duchamp in that he employs readymade objects, best known for his evocative, metaphorical videos and mixed-media installation. In his works, he examines competing ideologies, war, displacement, the self and the other, and multivalence.

Attila Kim is an architect and the Commissioner of Romania for Biennale di Venezia International Art Exibition 2017. His projects range widely, from an ecological center in the countryside to residential projects and collaborations on exhibitions for the Venice Biennale and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC). În 2016, the Aspen Institute of Romania awarded Attila Kim with the Arts and Society Leadership Award for his contribution to the Cultural Patrimony.

Angela Kovacs is the president of The Romanian Order of Architects, Mureș Subsidiary and a board member of the Technical Commission of Urbanism for Mureș county. As a renowned architect, she aims to support cultural and artistic expression through the development of projects, organizing numerous quality cultural activities accessible to the community.
